Here is an extract of another pretty rare "exotica" album by the Thai cult singer Sondi Sodsai.
Sondi Sodsai Panthumkamol was Miss Thailand 1959 which brought her to the US to compete in the 1960 Miss Universe pageant. She lost the title but did win Miss Congeniality and scholarship money which she used to enroll at UCLA. Majoring in drama at UCLA she quickly began working in television and became a regular on Adventures in paradise. She recorded one album for Liberty Records in Hollywood entitled Sondi. She soon returned to Thailand where she later became the head of Theatre/Arts at Bangkok University. She was also the court-entertainer of the King and Queen of Thailand. Her album was produced by Martin Denny, with special songs, in English and Thai, such as the Siamese cat song from the Disney movie Aristocats, Love is a many-splendored thing and the last one, Japanese farewell song, which everyone knows from the movie M*A*S*H.
Enjoy this Yma Sumac-ish love dance!

What an interesting woman. Thank you for creating these informative and colorful blogs about entertainers who are little known to me. I love getting this education, and wish you all the best. -Iva.Goodbody (myspace)
